Abstract:The micro asbestos minerals in talc powder were identified by a three-step scanning method using X-ray diffraction spectrometry. Different scanning speed was used at each step so that the characteristic peaks of micro asbestos were detected and the detection resolution of asbestos in talc powder was improved while the analysis time was greatly reduced at the same time. The interference of coexisting phase was prevented through selection of different scanning ranges. The “suspected” asbestos minerals were judged by combining the proposed method with microscopic observation method, as a result, whether the asbestos minerals in talc powder had grown into harmful asbestos or not could be effectively identified. The two methods was a good complement with each other, which can achieve a convenient and rapid identification of micro asbestos and its minerals in talc powder.
