Simultaneous determination of chromium, manganese and molybdenum by spectral signal analysis of fluorescence resonance energy transfer in salicylic acid fluorone rhodamine B system

Abstract:The fluorescence resonance energy transfer mechanism of salicylic acid fluorone (SAF) rhodamine B (RHB) system was studied. Combining with the partial least squares method, the chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn) and molybdenum (Mo) in steel were simultaneously determined. The results showed that SAF and RHB could generate effective fluorescence resonance energy transfer in hexadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide micelle aqueous solution. The fluorescence resonance energy transfer parameter between them was calculated. The change of spectral signals of energy transfer system after adding Cr , Mn and Mo was analyzed by partial least squares method, realizing the simultaneous determination of these three elements. The results indicated that, under the optimal experimental conditions, the whole spectra showed linear change for Cr , Mn and Mo in mass concentration ranges of 0.14-1.3 mg/L, 0.10-0.95 mg/L and 0.13~1.26 mg/L, respectively. This method was applied to the determination of simulated samples and actual samples. The relative standard deviations (RSD) were smaller than 3 %, and the recoveries were 94.0 %-107 %.
