Abstract:The accurate determination of calcium sulfide and calcium sulfite in desulfurization ash reduction product is very important for adjusting the process parameters and studying the conversion process. Calcium sulfide and calcium sulfite in the sample were oxidized by excessive iodine standard titration solution. The sample with dissolved with phosphoric acid (1+4) and the pH of solution was adjusted. The amount of iodine standard titration solution consumed by calcium sulfide and calcium sulfite was obtained by back titration with sodium thiosulfate standard titration solution. Thus, the total amount of calcium sulfide and calcium sulfite could be calculated. Calcium sulfide could react with iodine to form elemental sulfur. The mass of elemental sulfur could be eluted with hot potassium hydroxide solution to calculate the content of calcium sulfide in sample. The difference was the content of calcium sulfite. Consequently, the determination method of calcium sulfite and calcium sulfide in desulfurization ash reduction products was established. The proposed method was applied to the determination of desulfurization ash reduction products obtained in different processes. The relative standard deviations (RSD, n=7) of determination results of calcium sulfide and calcium sulfite were between 0.54% and 1.8%. The contents of calcium sulfide and calcium sulfite in three synthetic desulfurization ash reduction products were determined according to the experimental method. The found results were consistent with the theoretical values.
