Abstract:In order to meet the production requirements of the company, the contents of SiO2, Fe2O3 and Na2O in alumina were usually determined by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) in laboratory. The accuracy of XRF determination results was depended on the daily quality control effect. It was summarized an effective quality control method based on the analysis principle of XRF instrument by combining with the determination experience of SiO2, Fe2O3 and Na2O in alumina. The basis for the formulation of quality control plan and the principle of quality control method selection were discussed. The internal quality control methods were introduced in detail from the aspects including the state control of instrument, sample preparation method selection, drift correction of X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, certified reference materials detection, method comparison, personnel comparison and sample retest. Meanwhile, the internal quality control effect was tested with two external quality control methods, i.e., inter-laboratory comparison and measurement audit. Through statistical analysis of internal and external quality control data, it was found that the determination results of SiO2, Fe2O3 and Na2O in alumina by XRF with pressed powder pellet were accurate and reliable, which proved that the proposed quality control method was effective. This quality control experience also had reference for the establishment of quality control methods for the determination of impurities content in other materials by XRF.
