Abstract:The platinum content in nickel-titanium-platinum alloy were closely related to the physical and chemical properties of alloy material, which was also one of important trading indicators. The samples were dissolved by hydrochloric acid-nitric acid mixture and sulfuric acid. When the sample solution was heated to emit sulfuric acid smoke, the sulfide precipitation was formed from complex of thiourea and platinum, realizing the separation of platinum from other elements. After filtration and ignition to constant mass, the content of platinum could be calculated. The content of platinum in filtrate was determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES), which was very low and had no contribution to the content of platinum in sample. Therefore, there was no need for compensation. In other words, platinum had been completely precipitated. The test results showed that the dissolution rate of sample was the fastest when the volume ratio of hydrochloric acid to nitric acid was 5∶1. When the total amount of sulfuric acid (1+1) was 80mL and the dosage of thiourea was 2.0g, platinum could be completely precipitated and easily filtered. The contents of platinum in two nickel-titanium-platinum alloy samples were determined according to the experimental method. The relative standard deviations (RSDs, n=10) of determination results were 0.17% and 0.12%, respectively. The ammonium chloroplatinate gravimetry was used for comparison. The F test and t test results showed that there was no significant difference between two methods when the significance level was 0.10. The spiked recoveries were between 99% and 102%.
