Abstract:The amino black 10B can be oxidized to red by potassium persulfate in sodium acetate solution medium. The reaction rate can be accelerated after adding bismuth (III). Based on this phenomenon, the catalytic kinetic spectrophotometric determination method of trace bismuth was established. The effects of some factors (including the type and dosage of reaction medium, the dosage of potassium persulfate solution and amino black 10B solution, the reaction temperature and time) on the reaction were investigated. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the absorbance of catalytic system and non-catalytic system were measured using water as reference with 1cm cuvette at 615nm. The difference of absorbance (ΔA) was calculated. The results showed that the mass concentration of bismuth (III) in range of 0.02-0.12μg/mL had good linearity to the value of ΔA. The correlation coefficient was 0.9958. The apparent rate constant of this reaction was k=2.23×10-4/s, the apparent activation energy was Ea=48.52kJ/mol, and the detection limit was 1.15×10-9 g/mL. The proposed method was applied for the determination of bismuth in ardealite by combining with copper reagent-chloroform extraction and nitric acid reextraction separation. The found results were basically consistent with those obtained by atomic fluorescence spectrometry. The relative standard deviations (RSD, n=6) were between 2.9% and 3.3%.
