Abstract:In the quadrupole mass spectrometer, the power supply types and carrying capacity of each module unit are different. At the same time, the power supply of each module unit also needs real-time control and logical sequence control. The power supply system in existing instruments usually adopts serial port or network port to realize the communication control. However, these two kinds of buses are poor in anti-interference, real-time performance and scalability. A new type of power supply control system for quadrupole mass spectrometer was developed based on ARM microcontroller and controller area network (CAN) bus. ARM was responsible for the digital control output and state monitoring of power supply, while CAN bus was responsible for the communication with host computer and communication between modules. This system was applied to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS). The background noise, short-term stability and long-term stability tests were carried out.
