Abstract:GCr15 bearing steel is a kind of high carbon steel. The segregation of elements especially for carbon has great influence on the structure and performance of steel.The original position statistic distribution analysis technique was used to compare and analyze the whole cross section of continuous casting billet and central area of electroslag remelting ingot of GCr15 bearing steel. The segregation of C and Cr as well as the porosity of sample surface were focused. According to the two-dimensional contour map of C and Cr contents as well as the comparison analysis of statistical segregation, it was found that both C and Cr in cross section of continuous casting billet had serious center segregation phenomenon. Meanwhile, in the periphery of center segregation region, the cyclic and discontinuous negative segregation band of C caused by dendrite bridging was observed. The distribution of C and Cr in center region of GCr15 electroslag remelting ingot was relatively uniform. In other words, the segregation phenomenon was significantly improved. Moreover, the statistical compactness and statistical porosity of sample surface before and after electroslag remelting indicated that the compactness degree of electroslag remelting ingot was obviously better than the continuous casting billet.
