Abstract:The segregation phenomena of elements would be observed in production of continuous casting billet due to the unreasonable setting of technological parameters. The defects such as crack and shrinkage cavity would be caused in severe cases. The continuous casting billet samples of 20MnSi steel with obvious longitudinal cracks were selected for original position statistic distribution analysis. The experimental results showed that the presence of cracks would cause the abnormal original position statistic results, thus influencing the statistic distribution analysis of elemental contents. The treatment of abnormal data by clipping function of OPA-200 software was a feasible processing method. The original position statistic distribution analysis of whole cross section of continuous casting billet of 20MnSi steel was conducted. The two-dimensional contour maps of contents of C, Si, Mn, P and S were displayed in central region. The elemental enrichment was observed in 1/4 position from edge of cross section. The quantitative analysis of statistic segregation indicated that the segregation of C, P and S was relatively serious, while the segregation of Si and Mn was not too serious. In addition, the sample was also drilled along the horizontal central line of cross section, and the content of C, P and S was analyzed. The results proved that the original position statistic distribution analysis was consistent with the traditional segregation analysis method.
