Abstract:During the purity determination of high-purity iron nitrate nonahydrate by complex direct titration, the reaction rate was slow and the color change at end point was not sensitive, which could not meet the requirements of rapid analysis. The iron nitrate nonahydrate was prepared to aqueous solution (pH 1.1-2.2). Then, excessive EDTA standard solution was added to react with Fe3+. The residual EDTA solution was back titrated with zinc sulfate standard solution in HAc-NaAc buffer solution (pH 5-6) using xylenol orange as indicator. The proposed method was applied to the purity determination of ten high-purity iron nitrate nonahydrate samples. The relative standard deviations (RSD,n=6) were not higher than 0.082%. The found results were consistent with those obtained by original chemical industry standard method (HG 3—1394—1981 Chemical reagent:Ferric nitrate).
