Determination of nickel, chromium, manganese, phosphorus, molybdenum, copper and cobalt in chromium-nickel pig iron by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry

Abstract:The chromium-nickel pig iron sample was dissolved with aqua regia and hydrofluoric acid (which was added by dripping) followed by perchloric acid fume. The calibration curve was prepared with certified reference materials/control samples. Thus, a method was established for determination of high content nickel and chromium as well as manganese, phosphorus, molybdenum, copper and cobalt in chromium-nickel pig iron by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) with internal standard method. Under the working conditions of instrument, the linear correlation coefficients of calibration curves for elements all above 0.999. The linear correlation coefficient of nickel was up to 0.999 9. The detection limits of elements of the proposed method were between 0.002 0 μg/mL and 0.020 μg/mL. The proposed method was applied to determine the content of nickel, chromium, manganese, phosphorus, molybdenum, copper and cobalt in chromium-nickel pig iron actual sample. The results were consistent with those obtained by the national standard chemical analysis methods. The relative standard deviations(RSDs, n=11) were between 0.53% and 5.0%.
