Abstract:According to the difference of single spark intensity timing of C, Si, Mg, Al, Ca, O, etc. between linear defect region and non-defect region on automobile steel sheet, a qualitative and quantitative method for the identification of linear defect on the automobile steel sheet by spark source atomic emission spectrometry (SSOES) was proposed. It was found that there were inclusions of Si, Al, Ca, Ti , Mg, etc.in zinc pot sample by single spark analysis. In order to eliminate their interference, remove zinc-layer with dilute HCl was adopted. Single spark analysis on defect and non-defect region was conducted in both qualitative and quantitative identification, and the analytical data were calculated as per the rules to further identify whether it was a scratch or an inclusion. The identification results were consistent with those of energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS). The proposed method is highly sensitive, simple and fast with an analysis speed less than 10 min for 1 sample.
