Determination of micro uranium by arsenazo Ⅲ spectrophotometry

Abstract:In 0.1 mol/L HCl, unranium rapidly reacted with arsenazo Ⅲ chromogenic reagent and generated blue complex. Accordingly, a spectrophotometric method for the determination of micro uranium was established. Through the test, it was determined that the maximal absorbance appeared at the wavelength of 652 nm; 500 μL of 0.1 mol/L HCl and 2.0 mL of 500 mg/L arsenazoⅢ was selected. The results indicated that Beer's law was obeyed within the uranium mass concentration of 0-4.0 mg/L with the linear equation of A=0.248 99 ρ-0.000 1 and correlation coefficient of R2=0.999 8. The apparent molar absorptivity(ε)was 5.93×104 L·mol-1·cm-1. Two kinds of waste water solution containing uranium were determined by proposed method, and the relative standard deviation (RSD,n=5)was 0.77% and 0.51%. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was employed for comparison experiment, and the results were consistent.
