Abstract:The sample was firstly fully mixed with 2 g of sodium peroxide. Then, the sample was fully covered with 2 g of sodium peroxide for alkali fusion. Consequently, a determination method of vanadium pentoxide in titanium concentrate was established by phosphorus-tungsten-vanadium heteropoly acid spectrophotometry. The determination wavelength and optimal coloring conditions were discuessed. The results showed that the content of vanadium pentoxide exhibited good linearity to its absorbance at 420 nm. The interference test indicated that other existing elements in the sample had no interference with the determination except high valence of manganese, and the interference of manganese could be eliminated through the addition of ethanol for discoloration. The detection limit and the limit of quantitation was 0.003 2% and 0.010 7%, respectively. The proposed method was applied to determiantion of certified reference materials and actual samples of titanium concentrate. The results were consistent with the certified values or those obtained by national standard method (tantalum reagent-trichloromethane extraction spectrophotometry). The relative standard deviation (RSD, n=8) was less than 1%.
