Abstract:A technique of ICP-MS with ambient argon surrounding ion source was developed with a home-made enclosed device filled argon gas, and indicated its advantages for determination of these elements suffered from polyatomic interferences from of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and argon under solution nebulization (SN) and laser ablation (LA) sampling. Linear correlation coefficient, detection limit (DL), background equivalent concentration (BEC) of 11B, 24Mg, 28Si, 42Ca, 53Cr, 54Fe, 55Mn, 60Ni, 65Cu, 89Y, 115In, 137Ba, 202Hg and 208Pb were researched with solution nebulization, these results demonstrated that analytical performances of 24Mg, 28Si, 42Ca, 53Cr, 54Fe, 55Mn, 60Ni and 65Cu suffered from polyatomic interferences from of nitrogen, carbon, and argon were obviously improved, and there were no negative effects to that of 11B, 89Y, 115In, 137Ba, 202Hg and 208Pb. The calibration curves of 31P, 54Fe, 56Fe, 60Ni, 66Zn, 107Ag, 121Sb, 208Pb and 209Bi in pure copper with laser ablation introduction were fitted, and their analytical performances became better, especially to 54Fe and 56Fe. P, Fe, Ni, Zn, Ag, Sb, Pb and Bi in pure copper samples were analyzed with this technique, the found levels coincided with the results by SN-ICP-MS, the DL of each element was 6, 24, 3, 1, 1, 1, 1 and 0.01 μg/g.
