Abstract:A spectrophotometric determination of copper by a ternary complex system of copper, sodium diethyldithiocarbamate(DDTC) and emulsifier OP was established with Dowex 1×2 anion exchange resin as adsorption phase in the presence of non-ionic surfactant at pH 8.0. Through test, it was determined that: the Dowex 1×2 anion exchange dosage was 0.30 mL; the developer dosage was 2.0 mL; the emulsifier OP dosage was 1.0 mL; the optimal adsorption time was 25 min; the maximal adsorption wavelength was 437 nm. Common coexisting ions did not interfere with the determination of copper, while Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+ had interference with the coloured system, which could be masked by adding 5 mL of 50.0 g/L EDTA-200.0 g/L TAC mixed reagent. The concentration of Cu obeyed Beer's law within the range of 4.0-50.0 μg/mL. The linear regression equation was A=0.279 0 ρ+0.062 7 with the correlation coefficient of 0.999 3. The apparent molar absorptivity was 1.79×105 L·mol-1·cm-1. The detection limit was 0.063 mg/mL. Trace copper in aluminum alloy sample was determined by proposed method with the relative standard deviation (n=6) of 3.0%-7.9%,and the determination results were in consistent with those of atomic absorption spectrometry.
