Abstract:The calibration curve of sulfur was plotted by standard samples of sulfur-iron ore. The curve was calibrated by internal control samples. Thus, the rapid determination method of high-content sulfur in sulfur concentrate by high frequency infrared absorption was established. The sample size, sampling amount, combustion time and selection of flux were studied. The results showed that, the determination results of sulfur were consistent with those obtained by air combustion neutralization titration method under the selected instrumental parameters and following experimental conditions: about 0.400 g of iron and about 1.500 g of tungsten particle were used as flux; 0.100 0 g of sample was combusted for 45 s under high frequency induction. The precision test was conducted using one sulfur concentrate sample. The relative standard deviation (RSD, n=11) was 0.39 %. The proposed method was applicable for the rapid determination of sulfur concentrate containing 40 %-50 % (mass fraction) of sulfur.
