Abstract: The floatation separation behavior of titanium in cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTMAB)-potassium thiocyanate-water system was studied. The results showed that a water-insoluble ternary complex ([Ti(SCN)62-][CTMAB+]2) was formed by Ti , CTMAB and potassium thiocyanate in water solution. This complex could float on water phase, generating liquid-solid phases with clear interface. When the concentration of CTMAB and potassium thiocyanate was 2.0×10-3 mol/L and 7.0×10-2 mol/L, respectively, Ti could be quantitatively separated from Cd Ⅱ, Cr , Mn Ⅱ, V , Al , Ni Ⅱ, Fe Ⅱ, Mg Ⅱ and Ga . The proposed method was simple and rapid without environmental pollution. It had good practical value in separation and enrichment analysis of trace titanium.
