Abstract:An analytical method using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) for rapid simultaneous determination of Be, Al, Si, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Sb and Bi elements in magnesium was described. The sample was dissolved in HNO3+HCl by microwave digestion, and the above twelve impurity elements in the solution were detected by ICP-AES. All the factors which will interfere in the determination were studied in detail. Working parameters of the instrument are optimized and suitable analytical lines were selected. The detection limits range from 0.12 μg/L to 17.59 μg/L depending on the elements, linear correlation R2≥0.999 9. Recoveries of samples were in the range of 93 %-105 % and the precision was fine with RSD
