Determination of silicon and boron in Fe-based amorphous alloy Fe-Si-B.

Abstract:On the basis of chemical analysis method of ferroboron and silicon steel, which has the similar material to Fe-Si-B, the determination of Si by potassium fluosilicate precipitation titration method and the determination of B by acid dissolving alkalimetric method, were investigated for amorphous Fe-based alloy of Fe-Si-B. The sample dissolution method for the determination of B was improved, that was, the acid-insoluble white flocculus substance after filtration was firstly dissolved with alkali solution and then was put together with the filtrate. Some modifications to the classical method of Si, such as the decrease of the amount of hydrofluoric acid and the direct addition of potassium nitrate to promote the complete precipitation, were also proposed. The results were consistent with the traditional methods. Moreover, the repeatabilitiy was satisfactory.
