Controlling effect and its evaluation of the non-metallic inclusions in high grade non-oriented silicon steel sheets in China and foreign countries.

Abstract:Types and numbers of inclusions in some high-grade non-oriented silicon finished steels with the similar magnetic property level from typical manufacture enterprises in China and other countries were investigated by SEM and EDS methods after the sample was extracted from steel matrix by electrolysis method in a non aqueous solution. It was shown that, the finished steel sheets of four enterprises A, B, C, D had the same level of magnetic properties, while the types and quantity of inclusions were obviously different. For enterprise A, the main inclusions was CaO, and for numbers B, C and D, the main inclusions were MnS and AlN. In addition, for enterprises A, B, C and D, the number of inclusions in finished steel sheets whose size smaller than 1.0 μm were 31×104/mm3, 1 200×104/mm3, 1 800×104/mm3 and 85×104/mm3, and whose size larger than 1.0 μm were 108.4×104/mm3, 34.5×104/mm3, 71.6×104/mm3 and 5.6×104/mm3, respectively. There were only a few inclusions with size larger than 10 μm for the four enterprises.
