Abstract:The experimental conditions for determination of manganese content in ferromanganese by hydroquinone titration were tested and obtained. The sample was dissolved in acids. In phosphoric acid medium under heating, the manganese in sample solution was titrated with hydroquinone standard solution using perchloric acid as oxidizer and Nbenzooaminobenzoic acid as indicator. The proposed method was applied to the determination of manganese content in reference materials and actual samples of ferromanganese. The results showed the determination values of this method were consistent with the certified values or those obtained by national standard method (GB/T5698.1-2008). The relative standard deviation (RSD, n=6) was less than 0.3 %. The method was also applicable for the determination of manganese content in manganese ore.
