Abstract:X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) is an important and widely used material characterization technique.The review conducts comprehensive discussions on XRPD principle and its applications in mineral identification, gem discrimination, mineral drug discrimination and solid waste identification. The review also looks forward to the future research directions of XRPD technology,such as the portable instrument,the combination of multiple characterization technologies,and the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning tools,from the perspective of analyzing complex mineral structures and further improving the identification ability.
