Abstract:The content of rhenium content is very low in nature, so the pre-enrichment is required in the measurement process. The commercial melamine foam plastic was used as enrichment material, and the adsorption performance of modified melamine foam plastic on rhenium (Ⅶ) was investigated. The results showed that the modification of melamine foam plastic could be realized by boiling it in 10% (volume fraction) hydrochloric acid for 5 min. When the pH of solution was between 1.0 and 7.0, the adsorption efficiency of rhenium (Ⅶ) by the modified foam were all higher than 70%. The optimal pH for adsorption was 3.0, and the adsorption equilibrium could be reached within 45 min. The maximum adsorption capacity of rhenium (Ⅶ) by modified foam was 113 mg/g, which was nearly 50 times higher than that of unmodified foam. Rhenium could be completely eluted by 100 g/L ammonium thiocyanate solution. The certified reference materials including GBW07369 (tungsten-tin-bismuth ore) and GBW07373 (rhenium-molybdenum ore) were selected to investigate the enrichment performance of the modified foam. The content of rhenium was determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The relative standard deviations (RSD, n=5) were all less than 5%. The measured values were consistent with the certified values. The proposed method was appliable for the separation and enrichment of rhenium in geological samples, and it had high practical application value.
