Welding flux are composed of various inorganic and organic minerals such as silicates,carbonates,oxides,fluorides,iron alloys and metal powder.They are prepared by smelting,sintering,binding or mixing.Welding flux are important fusion welding materials for steel and nickel-based alloy,and play the roles of slagging,deoxidation,gas making,arc stabilization and alloying in the process of welding.The accurate and rapid determination of element and phase composition in welding flux is of great significance to the performance evaluation and quality control.Based on the development sequence from conventional chemical analysis to modern instrumental analysis and from single element determination to simultaneous determination of multi-elements, the application status of analysis methods and pretreatment technology for welding flux were systemically reviewed. Moreover, the development trend was also prospected.
