Abstract:With the acceleration of urbanization, steel companies originally located in suburban counties gradually evolved into "urban steel mills".The problem of cold rolling emulsion (rolling oil) odor was more and more serious. The corresponding relationship between cold rolling odor and rolling oil composition has been studied. And the comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography-time-of-flight mass spectrometry (GC×GC-TOFMS) was used to establish analyzing methods for the odor-related base oil, oiliness agent, various additives and their volatile components in rolling oil.On the basis of the studies, the formula of the rolling oil was improved in three aspects: (1) The proportion of synthetic esters were increased and the natural animals and plants oil were decreased; (2) Medium and long chained fatty acids were mainly used as oiliness agent;(3) In terms of additives, phosphorous extreme pressure agents with low peculiar smell were used instead of sulfur extreme pressure agents.Mixtured-antioxidant were choosed as far as possible to inhance antioxidative performace. The improved rolling oil was applied in the continuous rolling mill and the odor concentration was reduced from 732 to 90 by source control.
