Abstract:The element composition and valence state of chromium in chromate coating formed on electric steel plate were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Then, the formation mechanism of chromate coating was discussed. The results showed that the coating mainly contained Cr, O, Mg, Al, B and C. Under the given treatment process, chromium in chromate coating formed on electric steel plate mainly existed in the form of Cr2O3 and CrO3. No zero-valence chromium was found in detection.
