Abstract:The 5083 aluminum alloy has excellent welding performance and good corrosion resistance, and is widely used in the fields of energy and chemical engineering. In view of the cracks on surface of 5083 aluminum alloy welded pipe,the chemical composition,mechanical properties and metallographic structure of the sample were comprehensively analyzed by means of physical and chemical testing, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), spectroscopy (EDS) and metallographic microscopy. It was found that a large number of non-metallic inclusions such as C, Cl, Si, S and O existed in the base metal structure and cracks of the sample. The welding heat effect in welding process of aluminum alloy would lead to relatively high internal stress near the welding joint of aluminum alloy. The results showed that the existence of welding stress and a large number of non-metallic inclusions in the material structure were the root causes to form cracks.
