Abstract:Moisture determination is an important content of mineral raw materials and product analysis in metallurgical industry. It mainly includes the cosignmer water, hygroscopic moisture and combined water. Although the moisture determination method is relative simple, it is involved in raw mineral materials, product settlement and the correction calculation of other chemical analyses, thus it belongs to the important basic determination method. There are corresponding national standards or industrial standards of moisture determination for almost all minerals and products. Some of these standards are imported from foreign ISO standard system. The determination methods for cosignmer water, free water, hygroscopic moisture and combined water in various raw mineral materials and products were introduced and compared. The meaning of hygroscopic moisture in ISO standard system and China standard system had great difference. Moreover, the determination operations and purposes were also different. Therefore, the measurement data of hygroscopic moisture would be greatly different if the air balance sample and sealed original sample were used. The meaning of two kinds of hygroscopic moisture should be clearly distinguished. The determination of chemical weighing sample, loss on ignition and combined water was affected by hygroscopic moisture. Therefore, more accurate determination results could be only obtained by correcting the hygroscopic moisture.
