Abstract:The iron -chlorophosphonazo I-thiourea complex showed a sensitive adsorption wave in 0.04 mol/L Tris-HCl buffer solution (pH9.0±0.1). The peak potential was near -0.712 V (vs. SCE). The second derivative peak current of this wave (Ip'') had linear relationship with the mass concentration of iron in range of 1.0×10-7-1.0×10-9 mol/L (R2= 0.999 1). The detection limit of method was 5.0×10-10 mol/L (S/N=3). The electrochemical methods proved that this adsorption wave was an adsorption wave of complex. The electrode process was irreversible, and the electron transfer number in electrode reaction was 1. The effect of some ions on the peak current (Ip'') was investigated. The proposed method was applied to the determination of micro iron in water samples. The standard deviation of found results was 0.22%-2.7 % and the recoveries were between 97.0% and 103.6 %.
