Abstract:The synthesis of a new reagent carboxy-triazoleylazo-chlorophosphonazo (CTACPA) and its color reaction with La were studied. It was found that the reagent reacted with La to form a stabe purple complex in the medium of HAc-NaAc at pH 4.0. The maximum absorption wavelength appeared at 645 nm. The apparent molar absorptivity was 3.79×104 L·mol-1·cm-1. Beer’s law was obeyed in the range of 0.08-0.8 μg/mL for La. Some rare earth ions in lanthanide series did not interfere in the determination. The method has been used for the direct determination of micro lanthanum in Pt-La/CNTs and Pt-La/ZrO2 catalyst samples without separation. The results were in good agreement with the values obtained by atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS).
