Abstract:In buffer solution of borax-sodium hydroxide at pH 10.3, aluminum(Ⅲ) could catalyze fading reaction of potassium bromate oxidizing morin. Accordingly, a catalytic kinetic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace aluminum(Ⅲ) was established. The experimental conditions including acidity, reagent dosage, reaction temperature, reaction time, interfering ions were discussed to determine the optimal conditions of reaction. The linear range of the proposed method was 2-240 μg/L, and the detection limit was 1.1 μg/L. When the method was applied to determine trace aluminum(Ⅲ) in water sample, the results were basically consistent with those of chrome azurol S (CAS) micellar solubilizing spectrophotometry. The relative standard deviation (RSD, n=6) was 1.3%-1.8% and recovery was 95%-103%.
