Abstract:In order to discuss the mineralogical characteristics of phases in the process of vanadium slags roasting, six groups of calcium salt produced in the calcific process of vanadium slags roasting were analyzed at different temperature with polarizing microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS). The primary results of polarizing microscope showed that six groups of roasting vanadium slags mainly contained vanadium spinel, ferric oxide, calcium vanadate and pseudobrookite. The SEM results showed that, along with the rising of temperature, vanadium spinel mainly consisting of vanadium phase gradually decomposed into ferric oxide, pseudobrookite and calcium vanadate. It proved from EDS analysis that low valence vanadium and iron decreased, while high valence vanadium and iron increased. Through the observation of variation rules of morphology and crystal shapes in the process of vanadium slags roasting, the roasting temperature of the highest composition of calcium vanadate was acquired, which could be used as an important index of leaching rate of vanadium in calcium vanadate technology and provided as theoretical basis for process parameter setting.
