Abstract:The certified reference material sample and artificial calibration sample were used to plot the calibration curve, and the limestone sample was directly fused with anhydrous lithium tetraborate as flux without ignition loss correction for the carbonate in limestone. Consequently,CaO,MgO,SiO2,Al2O3 and Fe2O3 contents in the limestone were determined by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. Experiments conditions were obtained as follows:the dilution ratio of sample to flux was 1∶10,the pre-fusion temperature was 900 ℃ for 80 s and the fusion temperature was 1 100 ℃ for 300 s; five main components in the limestone could be determined directly without loss on ignition and matrix interference correction. The precision tests was carried out for the determination of components in limestone and the relative standard deviation (n=10) was in the range of 0.28%-4.9%. This method was applied to the determination of limestone certified reference materials and actual samples. The results were consistent with the certified values or those obtained by other methods.
