Abstract: A rapid determination method of magnetic ferroferric oxide in flash converting furnace slag by saturation magnetic analyzer was discussed. The experiments indicated that it has limitation during determination as the calibration curve was plotted with selfmade synthesis reference materials of ferroferric oxide, while it has a good application as the calibration curve was plotted with actual flash converting furnace slag reference materials. The effect of sample amount, sample particle size and coexisting magnetic substances was investigated to obtain the optimal experimental conditions. The determination range of this method for magnetic ferroferric oxide in flash converting furnace slag was 24.09 %66.62 %. The detection limit of method was 0.14 %, and the relative standard deviation (RSD, n=12) was 0.64 %0.79 %. The analytical results of sample were in good agreement with those obtained by Xray diffraction (XRD) analysis. The proposed method could meet the requirements for rapid analysis in production control.
