Abstract:Sometimes, Spark-DAT replaces or completes traditional inclusions analysis techniques, while it is sometimes used to evaluate the concentration of the soluble (or insoluble) fraction of an element or to replace fatigue resistance tests. Recent developments make Spark-DAT more attractive than before, not only for the steel industry, but also for the aluminum one. In this study, the basic principle of inclusion analysis by Spark-DAT was introduced. The improvements in corresponding algorithms and the inclusion analysis of iron matrix and aluminum matrix samples were discussed.
