Abstract：In order to analyze the factors affecting the uncertainty in metallic and oxide coating thickness measurement and character the dispersity of the measuring results, on the basis of the theory of the uncertainty in measurement and JJF1059-1999 “Evaluation and expression of uncertainty in measurement”, the uncertainty in measurement of local thickness of oxide coating of aluminium section material was assessed, including the unevenness of oxide layer and the repetitiveness of the measurement, the obliquity of the cross section of sample, the accurate degree of the measuring instrument, the approximate of the reading of direct reading ocular micrometer The combined standard uncertainty and the expanded uncertainty were calculated, and the report of the uncertainty in measurement of local thickness of oxide layer of aluminium sectional material was given
