Abstract:The common analysis method for tin content is polarography. However, mercury is used during analysis in this method. It can be evaporated to mercury vapor at room temperature with high toxicity. Therefore, it is necessary to seek a safe, environmentally friendly and rapid analysis method for tin. The tin ore sample was digested by alkali fusion. The determination method of tin content in tin ore by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) was established. The optimum sample fusion temperature with sodium peroxide was 670℃;the fusion time was 7-10min: after leaching with hot water, the sample was acidified with 30mL of hydrochloric acid (1+1) and tin was complexed using 1.00g of tartaric acid; finally the content of tin was determined by ICP-AES. The experimental method was applied for the determination of certified reference materials (GBW07281 and GBW07282), and the found results were basically consistent with the certified values. The relative standard deviation (RSD, n=12) was 1.8% and 3.7%, respectively. The actual samples of tin ore were determined according to the experimental method, and the found results were consistent with those obtained by traditional polarography. The proposed method could meet the requirements of rapid determination in ore laboratory.
