Abstract:The flotation separation behaviour of copper with potassium iodide-ascorbic acid-tetradecyl trimethyl ammionium bromide system was studied.The effects of the dosages of KI, tetradecyl trimethyl ammionium bromide (TTMAB), ascorbic acid(Vc) and acidity etc on the flotation yield of Cu2+ have been investigated.The possible flotation separation mechanism of Cu2+ was discussed.The results showed that under optimum conditions, Cu2+ could be reduced to Cu+ by Vc, the precipitation of CuI, which was formed by Cu+ reacted with I-, was floated to upper water phase by TTMAB, and the liquid-solid phases were formed with clear interface. The quantitatively separation of Cu2+ from Zn2+、Co2+、Al3+、Mn2+、Ni2+、Fe2+ was achieved by flotation. Accordingly, a new method for the flotation separation of trace Cu2+ was established. The proposed method has been applied to the flotation separation of trace Cu2+ in various environmental water samples with the recovery of 97%-104%.
