Abstract: Metal original position statistic distribution analysis technique was employed to analyze the different radial areas in steel 35 round billet ( 650 mm) cross section.An obvious negative segregation band was found in the round billet after being treated with electromagnetic stirring technique. In macroscopic examination, the band was shown as a white band with composition distribution which was apparently different on both sides. Meanwhile, there was obvious central porosity and segregation in the center of the round billet, as well, which led to a lower density than that in other areas. Besides, the inclusions of aluminum and sulfide also tended to concentrate in the central area of the round billet.
